Oosaki Nana- 20 year-old, abandoned by her parents and raised by a grandmother who died when she was 15, vocalist of a rising punk band, girlfriend of the guitarist of a major-label band, and dreams of surpassing her boyfriend's band.

The best thing about NANA (the title of the story) is the friendship that these two girls struggling for womanhood have. (Wait, what does struggling for womanhood mean? lol.) Oosaki Nana has lead a lonely life with only her male bandmates around her that living with Komatsu Nana is a totally new experience for her. On the other hand, Komatsu Nana has lived her life depending on her parents that when she tried to work to support herself she felt lost, but coming home to Oosaki Nana would make her day.

For the manga, I'd give this a:

Now, NANA breaking the records at bookstores was expected. The anime adaptation skyrocketed as well. Of course the package is not complete without the live, right?

Well I just checked it out and unlike what they did with Saikano, I'd say this was an exceptionally done adaptation. Everything, and I mean everything, was exactly what was in the manga! Even how the story was told. The pacing was just right, they didn't miss out anything at all. Even the clothes that they wore were exactly what Yazawa Ai (the author) drew. Well this is probably also because Yazawa Ai did base the clothes on actual designs by Vivienne Westwood, and buying them wouldn't be a problem for the movie. But still, they took pains to get the exact items!



The actors and actresses that played the characters' parts also did an amazing job, I had no complaints. Not to mention the striking similarities of their faces too! Ack, so... I'd give this movie a perfect score as well!
